Welcome to Oakdene's Reception Class page

We are an enthusiastic, bubbly and busy class who enjoy new learning experiences.

The team working in Reception this year is:

Miss Wilkinson (Class Teacher)    Mrs Hayes (Learning Assistant full time)    Mrs Green (HLTA for PPA cover)

A few of Reception’s routines:

Reading books need to be in school EACH day and will be changed each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please sign the book when you have read with your child and state if their book needs changing.

Home/school books are given out on a Friday and are collected in on a Monday. Please try and write a small comment if possible or initial that you have seen it.

PE kits need to be left in school each day and our PE days are on a Wednesday and Friday. Please could you make sure all PE items are labelled. We will send their kits home for washing at the end of this half term.

Reception’s Topic Focus:

This half term we will be learning about:

We will be looking at different minibeasts, reading a range of insect books, fiction and non fiction, with the main focus on 'Superworm' written by Julia Donaldson. We will be learning the story 'Superworm' using our Talk for Writing actions to help us sequence the story as well as re writing the story while putting our own twist on the story! We will be going on mini beast hunts, collecting snails and having snail races, discussing what our favourite bugs are and why, building mini beast hotels and creating our own butterfly symmetry paintings and much more!

We welcome ANY helpers in school. You can hear readers, do activities or just admin jobs. If there are any Mums, Dads, Grandparents etc. that want to fill a few hours please let us know.

Thank you,

Miss Wilkinson and the Reception Staff
