Humpty Dumpty, by Mrs Heskett

Date: 28th Nov 2022 @ 5:21pm

We sang the rhyme Humpty Dumpty. We talked about what had made him fall off the wall.We thought he could have been blown off  by the wind, slipped on ice, got pushed off by a naughty egg or fell because he was being silly! We practised our cutting skills to cut Humpty in half, then we used plasters to stick him back together again. We built walls for Humpty and put a toy Humpty on and sang the rhyme. We used paper plates to make our own Humpty. We also did an experiment to find out what the best material was to protect an egg when it falls. We used shredded paper, rice, cotton wool and a paper towel. We found that all the eggs cracked but the shredded paper protected the egg the most.

Litter, by Mrs Heskett

Date: 28th Nov 2022 @ 5:07pm

We had a visit from a ranger at Knowsley Safari Park. She told us a story about a cockroach called Colin. Colin helped to keep the forest floor clean by eating all the rubbish left by other animals. One day Colin found some rubbish that he couldn't eat-plastic, metal and glass. We talked about how we can recycle some of our rubbish. We went around school to see if there was any litter around and.....we found loads!!! We reused some of the litter to make models and pictures. We also made posters to remind people about putting their rubbish in the bin.

Reception Scooter Day, by Mrs Heskett

Reception had great fun at scooter day. We got kitted up in knee pads and helmets and then we were OFF!! There were some AMAZING moves on the scooters and some children even ventured over the ramps!! Mrs Heskett had a turn but only lasted 5 minutes not the 30 minutes that the children did!!

The Gingerbread man, by Mrs Heskett

Date: 27th Nov 2022 @ 3:04pm

Reception read 'The Gingerbread Man'.

We followed a recipe to make our own gingerbread man. We looked at the ingredients, weighed them out and mixed them. We rolled out our mixture and cut out our own gingerbread man. We decorated him and put him in the oven to bake. We left him to cool down but the next day he was GONE!!!!! We looked everywhere for him but we couldn't find him!!! We made posters to put up around school but we still didn't find him?! He sent us some letters to ask us to make beds and bridges for him. He hid some friends around our playground- we looked for them using a map but we still haven't found our gingerbread man!!!!
