Y6 Visit to Liverpool Museums, by Mr Weston

Year 6 had a wonderful visit to Liverpool to learn more around our history topic - Has Liverpool had a positive or negative impact on world history?

We visited the International Slavery Museum in the morning for a self-guided tour before heading to the Museum of Liverpool in the afternoon for a workshop looking at Liverpool's importance as a port for trade.

Year 6 really enjoyed taking part in Scooter Day. A massive thank you to James at Scoot Fit who led the sessions for each class, and made it a fun and really active session.

Year 6 has been busy learning the keyboards in the first half of the autumn term, linked to the music of Carole King. We have been learning to play 'You've Got A Friend', with a piano melody, rhythm and bass line on a split keyboard.

We have had a great time learning about the function of the heart. We labelled all the different chambers and blood vessels before dissecting it and looking at the different thicknesses of the walls.

We had an absolutely amazing time at PGL in October. The children's behaviour and attitude to all activities was exemplary. Hopefully, many fantastic memories will have been made that will stay with the children forever.

To celebrate European Day of Languages we conducted a carousel of activities which included learning some traditional French playground games and rhymes, creating our own langauge themed board games, looking at flags from around the world and learning some German.

Year 6 have been learning about light and how we see things. They know that light travels in straight lines, so if the beam from the light source is blocked by an opaque object it forms a shadow. Enjoy!

Back in November Year 6 had a week learning all about the Vikings. We even had a real life Viking visit for the day!

Yesterday we visited the mosque in St Helens. We learned about Arabic writing and even wrote our own name in Arabic! We looked at artefacts related to Islam, tried on the clothing and learned how Muslims pray.
